What are the focus points in my yoga classes?

Every teacher brings their own energy, approach, and focus to their classes. For me, yoga is about more than just the physical postures: it's about creating a space where you can connect with yourself, feel empowered, and leave with a little more ease.

If you're wondering what to expect in my classes, let me share what really matters to me and what I bring into every session. These are the elements I focus on because they make yoga meaningful to me — and I hope, to you too.
1. I want you to feel strong
I bring a focus on strength to my classes because I know how empowering it can be. Through poses that engage the legs, core, and back, we build a solid foundation. I want you to feel the power in your body, whether you're holding a warrior pose or moving through a flow. Strength gives us a sense of confidence and stability that we can carry off the mat and into our lives.
2. I want you to release and let go
For me, yoga isn’t just about building strength — it’s just as much about releasing what’s holding us back. That’s why I place a big emphasis on opening the hips and stretching the hamstrings. These areas can hold so much tension, and I want to help you let go of that, whether it’s physical tightness or emotional baggage.
3. I want you to feel connected to your body
Yoga isn’t just about following a set of instructions. It’s about tuning into your own body and feeling what’s right for you. That’s why I encourage you to check in with yourself during the practice and make adjustments based on how you feel. I love to invite free movement, sometimes with our eyes closed, so you can really listen to what your body needs in the moment.
4. I want you to feel calm and grounded
Starting the class with a simple pranayama — breathwork — helps us connect with the present moment and ground ourselves. Breath is the anchor that keeps us steady, no matter what’s going on in our minds or in the world around us. I remind you to keep your breath steady throughout the class, so we can stay calm, centred, and fully in the moment.
5. The heart of my teaching is self-love and respect
To me, yoga is about honouring your body and yourself. I want you to feel proud of who you are, not just in the postures, but in the way you show up for yourself. I give gentle reminders to stand tall, open your chest, and ground through your feet — these are ways to build confidence and respect for your body, no matter where you are on your yoga journey.
6. I want you to leave the class in a good mood
Laughter is important to me. I’ll bring a bit of fun and lightness into the class, whether it’s a silly joke or just some playful moments to help us relax. I want you to leave class with a smile, feeling lighter, more joyful, and ready to face the rest of your day with a positive mindset.
Yoga isn’t a one-size-fits-all practice — that’s why I bring these elements into the class, so you can experience what’s most meaningful to you. Every class might feel a little different because you, your body, and your needs are always unique. But that’s what makes yoga such a personal journey.
